6.
Coordinate pickup.
Help coordinate pickups. This is the most important step: Ensure shoes are picked up on time and delivered to the right place.
Celebrate your success, and say thank you. Then, follow up with Footsteps team to ensure all tax donation letters are sent to qualifying donors.
3.
Ask, ask, ask.
Where do you shop? eat? attend church? Build a list of community organizations, businesses, neighborhood groups, and others. Then, just ask.
Be sure to share your story and what inspired you to get involved. If it inspired you, it will inspire others.
4.
Coordinate.
Help each organization set their shoe drive goals, and use our shoe drive checklist to help them coordinate a successful Footsteps shoe drive.
Ensure each shoe drive location has:
-
shoe donation box/bin
-
qualifying donation tax forms
5.
Follow up.
Check in to make sure each organization's shoe drive is going smoothly. Find out what they need.
If needed:
-
Help pair, bag, and label unboxed shoes.
-
Pickup shoes to alleviate on-site storage challenges.
Lend a hand. Help recruit and coordinate shoe drive locations and sponsors.
Many children in foster care have never had a new pair of shoes. Too often, they need shoes that fit or shoes for extracurricular activities like sports.
You can help change this. Help us find local businesses, churches, and other organizations to put out a Footsteps shoe drive bin. Help us find sponsors and partners who want to give back to the community.
