Foster Children's Rights Coaliton's LGBTQ committee’s mission is to provide loving and affirming support, services and safety to all LBGTQ foster children.
We want to make foster care a safe, stable and nurturing environment where LGBTQ foster children can embrace who they are with self-love, pride and acceptance.
Affirming homes and mentors
Our LGBTQ Committee is dedicated to recruiting safe, affirming adults to open their homes as foster parents, open their hearts as mentors, and dedicate their time as Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs).
If you are interested in providing direct support to LGBTQ youth in foster care,

Safe service providers
Parents of youth who identify as LGBTQ often find visits to new service providers very stressful.
If you live in Arizona, we've made it easier to find the resources you need. Our LGBTQ Committee compiled a list of providers who are safe and affirming.
Rights in school
School should be a safe place for all children, regardless of their gender identity.
Our LGBTQ Committee has developed a letter template that you can fill in and provide to your child's school to ensure that they understand the law and your transgendered child's rights.

LGBTQ Cultural Competency Training
Youth who identify as LGBTQ in foster care often do not feel safe. Youth in foster care know they can be moved to a new placement at any moment, which makes coming out a dangerous option, even in a safe placement.
This is just one example of the many ways foster care is more difficult and more dangerous for youth who identify as LGBTQ.
Our workshops teach foster parents, social workers, and other care providers how to create a safe space for youth in foster care who identify as LGBTQ. We offer both online webinars and live workshops.
Our training facilitators are often able to travel to your agency or organization, currently within the state of Arizona, to train groups of 15 or more participants.
